YEAR 10 BOYS FOOTBALL
Imberhorne 9 St Paul’s 3
Our Year 10 Football team were up against St Paul’s at home. The boys wanted to continue with their positive play from last week, further cementing themselves as a solid team that can play good football together. We began the game well, moving the ball around with confidence leading to a goal being scored within the first five minutes. This was great to see but complacency, unfortunately, settled in very early and two goals were conceded in quick succession. With the team realising that a change of attitude was needed, they took back control of the game and started playing football their way, once again. Displaying a dominant performance for the remainder of the first half, we were able to score six further goals, from five different players, taking every opportunity they could regardless of where they came from on the pitch. Starting the second half with a convincing lead, the boys knew not to make any silly mistakes and continue playing in the same way for the remainder of the game. The second half saw the boys continuing to attack, hitting the woodwork several times, but converting a further two goals, one of which being a great headed goal by Mungwira from an Armstrong corner. Another great all-round performance by the entire team.
Goal scorers, Armstrong x3, Latham x2, Clarke, Trett, Coles, Mungwira.
U12’s BOYS RUGBY
Beacon academy 25 : 25 Imberhorne
What a great game!! We were 4 tries to 1 up at half time and were leading 25 : 20 with 50 seconds left on the clock, only to concede to a strong Crowborough side. The mistakes we made were the right ones; dropped passes because we were hitting the ball at pace, coming off our feet at the rucks because we were racing to get to the breakdown. These are all good signs of a team that is trying to play in the right manner and in the right rugby style. As always, the boys were a credit to the school and are improving with every game. Hard work and dedication.
Scorers: Seb S (2), Jack, Carter and James. Man of the match: Seb S
